AI is moving quickly into industrial environments, but the practical questions are still being worked out: Where can it actually help OT defenders? What does effective early detection look like in real operating environments? And how can research translate into tools and practices operators can use today?
For this OT Office Hours, Scott Bowman of Idaho National Laboratory joins Insane Cyber Founder and CEO Dan Gunter.
They’ll discuss Scott’s work at the intersection of artificial intelligence and operational technology, the Department of Energy’s CyOTE approach to detecting cyber activity earlier, and what those ideas look like when applied to real-world OT monitoring.
The conversation will also explore where national laboratory research and industry can learn from each other — and how stronger collaboration can help move useful ideas from research into operational environments.
As always, OT Office Hours is built around conversation, not presentations. Bring your questions and join the discussion.
What We’ll Cover
- What INL is learning about the use of AI in OT and cyber-physical environments
- How CyOTE approaches early detection of cyber activity in operational environments
- Where AI can provide practical value to OT defenders today — and where expectations may be ahead of reality
- How research, operational experience, and purpose-built OT monitoring can complement one another
- Opportunities for stronger collaboration between industry and national laboratories
- Live audience Q&A
Who Should Attend
This session is designed for OT and ICS security practitioners, control system engineers, critical infrastructure asset owners, security leaders, and IT teams taking on greater responsibility for operational environments.
If you’re trying to understand how AI and emerging detection approaches may affect OT security in practice, this conversation is for you.
